Ultra Love channels the intensity and emotive qualities of late 90s emotional hardcore, post-punk and screamo, while also drawing on numerous other musical influences. With a fervent desire to push beyond formulaic structures and sounds, the three-piece prides itself on producing songs that remain untethered to one musical style. The eclectic nature of Ultra Love’s sound is not by accident as Arpin has expressed that her desire to not be bound to a singular sub-genre is a key part of the perspective she seeks to bring to a style of music that has been, and continues to be, predominantly male-dominated. Together with Elgar and Hall, the three-piece are able to create music that both celebrates and transcends their shared nostalgia for late 90s screamo and post-hardcore, and give it new meaning as a pillar of their own unique sound.

https://nofuneralsound.bandcamp.com/album/ultra-love

FFO: Black Love, City of Industry, Congratulations

Also available from ZilpZalp Records(GER) and Desperate Infant Records (HK)

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0721/9504/7744/products/bandcamp_fdb6bd08-2852-49c4-9272-fa3c90c3de0d.jpg?v=1676759040
yume-ambitious-cards-cassette
Yume - Ambitious Cards - Cassette

nf-055

Yume's Ambitious Cards comes out tomorrow through No Funeral and we are very excited. Starting with a single member and slowly growing to 9, the group has constantly focused on challenging themselves and their audience with a unique combination of poetry, noise and texture, Employing horns, wings, strings, guitars, drums, samples and vocalizations, they create an experience that is highly confrontational and at times bleack, but with a certain self awareness and optimism.

Rotten Fruit; Regular Orchard is the first piece of music written for and recorded by that ensemble. The two movements, spanning over 34 minutes frantically played by 9 performers and even a small choir, vacillate between delicate and eruptive sections wrenching the tradition of chamber music out of parlours and into the smoke filled basement of a punk house, Grandiose, ugly, imperfect and emotional, conjuring comparisons to both Screamo and post rock, while never really settling into either mold, this record guides you through the accumulation and acceptance of regret, with equal parts poetic narration and haunted wailing.

FFO: Godspeed You!
